Trabant 601 "OPIE" SERIES 1
The VEB Sachsenring Trabant 601 was an East German built compact car produced from 1964 - 1990. Simply known as "the Trabi," over 2.8 million of the type were produced.
Known as "OPIE," Our Trabant 601 is a special character. OPIE was a heavily modified 1987 Sachsenring Trabant 601 that was used by the 159th Fighter Squadron as a flightline vehicle while they were based at Laage, Germany in the mid 1990s. The 159th fly F-15 Eagles, and while based at Laage, would engage in air to air training with Fighter Wing 73 and their MiG-29s. OPIE was destroyed in late 2022. It’s only known remnants were the original hood and a vertical stabilizer. The hood was used to create this run of tags; the vertical stabilizer has been preserved. This is a unique piece of F-15 history.
These tags are offered in a single variant: Grey. These composite tags come printed with a Trabant 601 with the 159th retrofits.
