ADM-20 Quail SERIES 2

Sale price$70.00

The GAM-72 (later ADM-20) was an air-launched decoy cruise missile designed to clutter Soviet air defense radars in the event of a US launched strike. The missiles were launched from B-52 Stratofortresses, had a range of 445 miles, and could travel at 0.9 Mach. Up to 8 Quails could be carried in the B-52 weapons bay. On radar, the Quail was indistinguishable from the B-52, forcing Soviet aircraft and defense systems to target multiple contacts, reducing the likelihood of B-52 losses.

The Quail tags come in 4 variants: Silver, USAF, Red, and Fuel Tank (green). All tags except the Fuel Tank were cut from exterior skin. The USAF tags were cut from the USAF decal on either side of the missile. The Red were cut from the plane of rotation stripe. All tags have been laser etched.

This fuselage was purchased at an aircraft salvage yard in 2021. This run is limited to 225 tags.
